Many people simply know me as Alex, as well as the director of the company, the designer, machinist, upholsterer, mother to Lily Grace, Charlie Albert, and Arthur Alexander, wife to Craig, and sometimes bossy boots.
I began making curtains in my snug whilst working part time and studying textile design. I was eventually taken under the wing of an interior designer who taught me the skills required to make and design soft furnishings – although the actual flare and innovation of interior design is something that cannot be learnt and which I consider to be my gift.
In 2004 I out-grew the snug. Luckily, I discovered a small studio at Backridge Farm, Waddington, where I could expand and relocate the business. In November 2010 we took the plunge to move to a more prominent town centre location and moved to 24-26 Moor Lane where we rented for 6 years. In 2017 a property across the road came for sale… After many ifs and buts we decided to purchase the building and took on a full much needed renovation project whilst six months pregnant! After lots of hard work from the team and family, we opened the door of 19 Moor Lane to our lovely customers and never looked back.
I love doing my job, which brings excitement each day with meeting new customers and catching up with regular customers who have become friends, as well as seeing the new fabrics and designs as they are introduced throughout the seasons.
